The Girls Empowerment Program is closed to 12 girls. This six week program meets three days a week for four hours a day during the summer and 3 hours a day during the school year. An individualized therapeutic plan that focuses on trauma healing will help the girls achieve strategies to alleviate the feeling of brokenness and establish a positive sense of wholeness. The treatment model comprises of an Afrocentric approach, which includes the impact of the community and other systems connected to the girl's life. It also includes a spiritual basis of existence, which sees the spirit as the essence of existence. It acknowledges the interdependence of all things seen and unseen, which is at the core of one's Divine self.
Our annual self-esteem conference is a lively session where we discuss each of the six power principles and conclude with an inspirational Girls Are Powerful Art Project.
This workshop is an extension to our self-esteem conference. In this workshop we equip girls with the skills to exercise the power of their voice and challenge them to make a difference in the community.
We offer a Spring Tea Party for mothers and daughters, where girls feature their mothers as the wind beneath their wings. Girls have the opportunity to visit three themed power stations where they learn more about what it means to celebrate self love and to honor our mothers.
